Overview
There are nearly 7 million tons of coffee beans consumed worldwide on a yearly basis. Coffee consumption is rivaled only by tap water in North America. If you're a coffee drinker and you've ever found yourself in a situation where you had coffee but no coffee maker, you know how frustrating it can be to figure out a way to brew a cup of morning coffee to start your day. Here's a quick, easy method for brewing a pot of coffee when your resources are limited.
Step 1
Fill a cooking pot with eight to 10 cups of water, and bring it to a boil. Turn the heat off once the water reaches a hard boil.
Step 2
Place 4 to 5 tablespoons of ground coffee into a nylon, and tie the nylon. You can add more or less coffee to taste. The nylon won't let any of the grinds out, so you can use fine-ground coffee if you prefer a stronger brew.
Step 3
Tie the nylon and drape it over the side of the cooking pot so the coffee grounds submerge in the water. Let the coffee steep in the water for 10 to 15 minutes. Allowing it to remain in the water longer will make stronger coffee.
Step 4
Pour your coffee into a thermos or insulated carafe to keep it fresh and warm.
