Overview
Camp kitchen gear includes pots, pans and dishes. Cooking on an open fire is a part of the camping experience. However, cleaning the utensils without modern conveniences such as a sink or dishwasher can be difficult. It is important to clean the kitchen gear after every meal to avoid insects in the camping area. In addition, other wild animals may smell and investigate the odor from the dirty camping gear.
Step 1
Start a campfire beneath a grill. Allow the fire to heat the grill before continuing.
Step 2
Fill the pot half full of bottled water or with any running water at the campsite. Position the pot on the grill. Let the water steam before removing.
Step 3
Add a drop of dish soap to one piece of the camp kitchen gear. Scour and mix the dish soap around the utensil with the sponge to obtain lather.
Step 4
Use the cup to pour some warm water from the pot onto the gear. Scrub again with the sponge. Pour more water from the cup to rinse the kitchen utensil. Complete twice.
Step 5
Dry the utensil. Store the item in a clean, safe location.
Step 6
Repeat Steps 3 to 5 to clean the remaining kitchen camping gear.
