Overview
A dog needs a place that is quiet, warm and dry in order to stay healthy. You can buy a training crate or dog bed, or you can make a suitable dog bed by just following some simple guidelines offered by the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA).
Step 1
Choose a warm, quiet location that is far away from drafty windows or doors.
Step 2
Put a clean pillow or blanket inside a wooden crate or box. Make sure that the box is big enough for your dog to turn around in.
Step 3
Place a ticking clock beneath the blanket if the bed is for puppies. It will remind them of their mother's heartbeat and make them more relaxed and comfortable.
Step 4
Shade the bed's location if it is located outdoors. Make sure it will stay cool in hot weather and warm and dry in cold, rainy weather.
Step 5
Wash the blanket or pillow often, and replace it as needed. It is important for your dog's health that the bedding is clean and fresh.
