Meet George Jetson, er, uh, that's actually Paul Moller, a former engineering professor at the University of California at Davis who has sunk millions of dollars and decades of time into his dream of getting a flying car off the ground.
His company, Moller International, is ramping up to release a production model of the M200X, the flying-saucer like flying car shown here. The VTOL vehicle will operate at up to 10 feet off the ground and reach a maximum speed of 100 miles per hour, according to performance specifications.
Moller's loftier goal is the 4-seater M400 Skycar that can fly up 36,000 feet and reach a maximum speed of 360 miles per hour.
