LOS ANGELES

Oakwood Worldwide, the leading global temporary housing and serviced apartment provider, today announced that Founder, Chairman and CEO Howard Ruby will receive the "Conservation Photographer of the Year" recognition at the Nature's Best Photography Windland Smith Rice International Awards at the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of Natural History tonight.

Among other recipients, Ruby will be presented with the award by the National Wildlife Federation, the Conservation Sponsor for the 2007 Nature's Best Photography event. Ruby's dramatic Arctic photographs document the playful and instinctive nature of the polar bears as well as climate changes taking place in the region.

Nature's Best Photography Awards Chairman, Steve Freligh, praised Ruby's role as a conservation advocate as well as an outstanding photographer. "The Conservation Photographer of the Year award was created to recognize a nature photographer whose work can inform and educate the public about environmental concerns. Ruby's striking images of the Arctic region and its wildlife help raise awareness of climate change."

The awards ceremony kicks off Nature's Best Photography's six-month, 5,000 square-foot exhibition gallery at the National Museum of Natural History. From Oct. 31, 2007, through April 30, 2008, Ruby will be one of 55 artists whose work will be on display in this special, public exhibition.

"I'm honored that the National Wildlife Federation and Nature's Best Photography has presented me with their first Conservation Photographer of the Year award," says Ruby. "This is a wonderful recognition of my passion as a nature photographer and reflects my commitment to conservation efforts and my dedication to public education about environmental issues. I am thrilled to receive this acknowledgment of my photographic achievements. I hope that the public will be as moved as I've been moved by what I've seen on my trips to the Arctic. I also hope that they will respond by taking action to help reduce climate change."

Considered Nature's Best Photography's premier competition, the annual Windland Smith Rice International Awards is designed to recognize outstanding photographers from around the world. More than 17,000 submissions from photographers in 26 countries were entered in this year's competition. It is entering its second decade as one of the most prestigious nature photography competitions in the world. The winning images will be featured in the Fall Collector's Edition of the magazine.

Ruby's passion for the environment has led him to found the Global Warming Crusade, an organization created to raise public awareness of the threat of global warming on the environment and the polar bears by positioning the animals as the face of global warming (www.globalwarmingcrusade.com). It has also inspired the launch of the multi-million-dollar Oakwood Worldwide Green Initiative, a three-pronged program designed to help combat global warming, create awareness and provide educational outreach opportunities for its guests, clients and associates. Ruby's photography will be on display at the National Wildlife Federation's 2007 National Conservation Achievement Awards & Dinner on Nov. 1 at the Mayflower Hotel, in addition to the exhibit at the Smithsonian.

The NWF Connie Awards recognize individuals and organizations playing a leadership role in protecting and restoring the wildlife and wild places of the world. His images were used on all the invitations, and will be featured during the cocktail reception and the dinner program.
