The Christmas spirit is alive and well — at Sears
Holiday miracles tend to show up in unexpected places, and this Christmas they worked their magic on layaway balances at Sears. Dubbed the “Layaway Angels” by a sears store manager, anonymous donors have taken the selfless holiday spirit to a new level, by paying off remaining layaway balances for Sears customers who are they think need it the most.
“The Layaway Angels” first appeared at a Claremont, California, Sears. One father came into the Claremont Sears with his wife and children ready to make a layaway payment. When he learned that his payment had been cleared by an anonymous Layaway Angel, he was in tears. Another customer who had been helped by a Layaway Angel said that his home was being foreclosed, and added that this was simply a wonderful holiday present.
“Copycat Angels,” who have been inspired by the Claremont store, have been appearing in various parts of the country, spreading the cheer.
