Nonprofits Turn Foreclosures Into First Homes

In a market hot with speculators snapping up cheap foreclosures, a program called Rebuilding Together is one of many that give a leg up to nonprofits trying to stabilize neighborhoods dotted with vacant houses.

Rebuilding Together is a nonprofit working to preserve affordable homeownership and revitalize communities. Its network of more than 200 affiliates provides free rehabilitation and repairs to the homes of low-income Americans.
