Heroic Man Rescues 3-year-old from Burning Mobile Home
JANUARY 28, 2009Aparna Atluru, HappyNews StaffJames Sheetz says he was simply doing what any man is supposed to do when he rescued a 3-year old child from a burning mobile home.
Sheetz, 40, woke up to the sound of his dogs barking around 2 a.m. Looking out his window, Sheetz noticed that his neighbor’s mobile home was on fire. Sheetz ran out of his house quickly, smashed through the window of the burning home, and brought out the child to safety. The boy, Josh Jennings Jr., was only seconds away from being affected by the smoke and flames when Sheetz made the daring rescue. Interestingly everything in the structure burned, except a Bible, which was only singed.
Sheetz suffered burns on his body and his hair was also singed. However, Sheetz does not think of himself as a hero.
