James Hangle of Shipley was driving a bus through Church Fenton when he saw smoke. Fenton ran into the burning house and helped disabled Bob Hutchinson and his wife Isobel get out of their property unharmed. Hangle was driving from the town of York to the town of Micklefield and was simply passing through Church Fenton.
