In 2008, Blue Bell introduced four frozen snack bars inspired by its ice cream flavors - Homemade Vanilla, Buttered Pecan, Strawberries & Homemade Vanilla and Chocolate Covered Cherries Bars. In 2009, two more favorite Blue Bell Ice Cream flavors have been made available on a stick – Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and Mint Chocolate Chip Bars.
The Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Bars include the ice cream surrounded by a brown sugar coating and the Mint Chocolate Chip Bars are ice cream coated in a chocolate flavored shell.
“We had such a successful response from consumers last year that we decided to expand this line of frozen snacks,” said Carl Breed, director of marketing. “At one point last year we weren’t sure we could keep up with the demand. With Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and Mint Chocolate Chip being top-sellers in the half gallon variety, we’re confident these bars will become a consumer favorite as well.”
Last year, the bars were introduced as “a brand new way to enjoy some of your favorite ice cream flavors…on a stick!” “The bars were created to taste just like what you have in a Blue Bell half gallon,” Breed said. “We marketed them as a tasty, quick treat to enjoy on the go. It’s a simple idea and great way to enjoy your favorite ice cream flavors.”
