LOS ANGELES

Hollywood appears to be in the rearview mirror for Matthew Berry, aka ''The Talented Mr. Roto.''

Berry has been ESPN.com's fantasy guru for about a year, a big switch after a career as a writer in Hollywood, including working on ''Married ... With Children.''

ESPN bought the Web site Berry founded, and he moved to Bristol, Conn., to be the face of fantasy sports for the cable network.

''It has its challenges,'' Berry told The Associated Press in a recent interview. ''Listen, I'm not going to lie, I miss L.A., where I lived for all my adult life. I loved L.A. But when you get offered the job of a lifetime, which I believe this is, to be the fantasy guy at the sports company, it literally was a once-in-a-lifetime, dream-come-true, pinch-me type opportunity. I would move anywhere to do it.''

Berry has been a fantasy sports fanatic since he was 14. He started writing for a fantasy sports Web site in 1999, then founded his own site in 2004.

''It's my passion,'' he said. ''The site took off and did well. I realized that I was getting paid well to write movies, yet all I could think about when I woke up or went to bed was this little fantasy site I had. I put everything into that site.''

Berry has kept one tie to Los Angeles.

''I still have Lakers season tickets,'' he said. ''No. 1, they're too valuable to give up. I've had them for 10 years and I finally got down to the lower bowl'' at Staples Center.
