LSU Introduces Johnson

NEW ORLEANS

LSU has introduced Stanford's Trent Johnson as its new coach.

Johnson says it's something any coach would want — the chance to recruit the nation's best student-athletes and to compete for championships every year.

He led the Cardinal to the round of 16 in this year's NCAA tournament, and to an 80-48 record in four seasons.

Johnson had said recently that he hoped to remain at Stanford, which lost to Texas in the NCAA tournament regional semifinals. Earlier, he had been slated to meet with Stanford's athletic director Thursday to discuss a new contract.
