MANCHESTER, England

Sanja Jovanovic of Croatia has improved her own world record in the women's 50-meter backstroke at the short-course swimming world championships.

Jovanovic finished in 26.37 seconds Sunday. Her previous record was 26.50, set at the European short-course worlds in December.
