Toys from Recycled Milk Containers Made in California

Just over a year ago, toy inventor Robert von Goeben was having lunch with longtime friend and marketing executive Laurie Hyman at a favorite San Francisco restaurant. The two, who first met as grad students, discussed Hyman's two young daughters and von Goeben's recent trip to a Bay area recycling center when the conversation turned to making fun toys that would have a positive impact on the Earth.

"For years, I worked to invent new ways for kids to have fun. For my next project, I wanted to do something that harkened back to classic play patterns and also tapped into my concern for the environment," recalls von Goeben, co-founder of Green Toys Inc., www.greentoys.com.

Intent on making that lunch conversation a reality, von Goeben and Hyman began Green Toys Inc. in 2007 and recently released their first line of toys made in the USA from recycled plastic milk containers. Green Toys brand toys just reached specialty store shelves, including FAO Schwarz, in time for Earth Day 2008.

"As a mother of three now, I strive to create a positive and healthy environment for my children to play and learn," commented Hyman, co-founder of Green Toys Inc. Green Toys Inc. runs its business with a "do it local" focus. All aspects of its toy production, including material sourcing, manufacturing, printing, assembly and fulfillment, occur in California.
