The United Way of America plans to steer money raised during the next 10 years to support programs directly related to education, income and health care.
United Way president and chief executive Brian Gallagher announced the initiative during the organization's annual conference in Baltimore on Wednesday.
The announcement coincides with a United Way report showing a decline in health, education and the finances of working families.
Gallagher says the organization must redirect its money toward the root causes.
