Failing Schools of New Orleans Are On the Mend

After Hurricane Katrina, the failing government schools of New Orleans were turned over to privately run charters. Five years later, these institutions are on the mend as charter schools.

Students can apply to and, if accepted, choose to attend any of the city’s 46 charter schools or 23 “traditional” schools."
