Formula One World Champion Lewis Hamilton will take a pit stop tour of the Milan 2009 Homeless World Cup during his trip to Italy for the Monza Grand Prix. Lewis will attend the event as a guest of funders of the Homeless World Cup, the Vodafone Foundation.
Hamilton will kick off the days play on Thursday 10 September 2009 at the Arena Civica, Milan.
The Milan 2009 Homeless World Cup takes place from 6-13 September 2009 uniting 48 nations from all 5 continents of the world. Italy, two times Homeless World Cup champions, will be aiming to regain their championship glory in front of their home crowd.

As part of its programme of activity, it continues to invest in sport initiatives which have the ability to reach out to the most marginalised and disadvantaged groups in communities around the globe.

The Homeless World Cup uses football to energise people who are homeless to change their own lives. The Vodafone Foundation is supporting the Homeless World Cup Foundation with a £500,000 grant over a two-year period. This core start-up funding is developing infrastructure and grassroots football projects in over 75 nations using the powerful benefits of football.
According to research 77% of players involved in the Homeless World Cup experience a significant life change as a result of the tournament. Furthermore, 94% claim to have a renewed motivation for life after coming off drugs and alcohol, moving into homes, jobs, education, training, repairing relationships and becoming coaches or players with semi-pro teams.
