PETCO foundation will raise money to aid pets in Katrina's path

Hoping to ease the suffering of two- and four-legged victims of Hurricane Katrina, PETCO Animal Supplies,
Inc. and the PETCO Foundation are conducting an emergency "round-up" fundraiser at PETCO stores nationwide.
Customers will be asked to round up their purchases to the next highest dollar, with all proceeds going to the PETCO Foundation to specifically support animal welfare disaster relief needs in the Gulf Coast region. Customers may also donate to Hurricane Katrina Disaster Relief on-line at Hurricane Katrina Disaster Relief
"We are consistently there for pets in need and thereby helping their human companions," said Lance Schwimmer, PETCO Vice-President of Operations for the Central Region. "We will coordinate our efforts with the American
Humane Association and the Humane Society of the United States, as well as local animal shelters, to ensure an integrated response for maximum benefit."
The round-up fundraiser will run from today through September 11.
