Speed Dating Tips for Women

In the hustle and bustle of modern life, it can be easy for a single man or woman to feel alone and overwhelmed. Luckily, social meeting groups like "speed dating" sessions can be a great opportunity for single men and women to meet in a no-pressure, fun environment. Speed dating events happen in most areas and are often so brief you can attend one on your hour-long lunch break.
You only have a short time to get to know a person before the bell rings and it's time to get to know the next. This means there is no time to concoct a false identity or try to give someone the illusion you are someone that you are not. Rather, be yourself. Be open and honest without being too revealing or personal. This will save you and your potential dates a lot of time and heartache in the long run. Spare yourself the hassle of lies, which always bring on more lies and deception. When it comes to speed dating, honesty is always the best policy.
Check your Baggage
The point of speed dating is to have a fun, quick way to meet many local singles. It is certainly not the opportunity to badmouth your last relationship to dozens of new faces. Slander is just not appealing; focus on the positive and check your baggage at the door. Allow yourself to be open to new relationships, not boxed in by ones that went wrong in the past. So avoid the urge to ask a question like, "My last boyfriend cheated on me, are you a cheater?"
What do you think is at the core of a person? Do you have any certain tells that you feel allow you to understand a person right off the bat? If so, why not prepare a list of things to keep in mind when meeting with a new face at your speed dating round. Knowing what you are looking for, however, does not mean that not meeting that ideal is a failure on your part. While knowing what is truly important to you, you can still remain open to someone who might not be as perfect as you have always imagined.
Consider the Presentation
Unfortunately, what you wear and how you dress can say a lot about you. Dressing in an outfit that is too revealing or one that is too conservative will send off certain cues about your personality to the man you are meeting. Take some time before you approach the speed dating session to consider what you are trying to convey with your appearance. Make sure you are finely groomed and clean, as a more slovenly approach might not be what it takes to ensure a second date. However, do not feel the need to put on false airs for strangers. You are who you are and should be proud to express this.
Trust Your Instincts
Have you ever had a feeling that something was not as it appears? This might sometimes be the case with speed dating. So while you are being open-minded and honest to new faces, always try to keep a healthy level of skepticism in your toolkit. Likewise, if someone seems right off the bat like "the one," do not be afraid to pursue this opportunity. Your instincts will not lead you astray in most situations.
